Schola Cantorum of Waynesboro
Providing a “school for singers” for the Shenandoah Valley since 1996.
Schola Cantorum of Waynesboro was formed in 1996 to give accomplished area singers an opportunity to learn and perform great works of the master composers. Its name, derived from medieval Latin meaning "school for singers," is a testament to the mission of the group, which is to challenge its musicians to master and perform the great works of classical music for the enjoyment and education of the community.
What is Schola Cantorum?
Schola is made up of about 50 singers from Waynesboro, Staunton, Charlottesville, and Augusta County. We have some members who are brand new to Schola and others who have been singing with since we began 28 years ago! We hold auditions before each semester and are always open to new singers. We rehearse on Tuesday evenings from 7-9pm at First Baptist Waynesboro. If you are interested in joining, contact us by emailing scholacantorumwaynesboro@gmail.com.
